Roux, the Beanbag, and the Beautiful Yellow (Stained 😩) Replacement🧽🧼
Share
You ever have one of those weeks where your dog and your new furniture decide to tag-team your patience?
Yeah, that was me 2 weeks ago.
Let’s set the scene: it’s another late nite, I’m in the zone working from my home office, and Roux - my Boston Terrier, HoN mascot, cuddle monster, and occasional chaos gremlin - is curled up and snoozing peacefully. Or so I thought. A little while later, I hear what sound like running water and realize... my office beanbag is soaked!
😩 Not the vibe.
I think she woke up confused and didn’t make it to her FluentPet buttons in time. Maybe she sleepwalked? Do dogs even do that?! Either way, I knew what had happened, and I knew there was no salvaging that beanbag.
Memory foam + puppy pee puddle = trash day 🗑️
Goodbye, squishy seat!
But out of the ashes (or the trash pile) came a silver lining: I found this lovely Folding Sofa Bed in a buttery yellow color! I’m talking sunshine-in-a-box, can’t-believe-it's-that-cute kind of yellow. I tore into the box like it was my birthday… until I saw a stain on the included pillow 🫠
Not-so-sunny now, huh?

Thankfully, I’m no stranger to stain removal - I reached for my trusty homemade low-tox laundry detergent, which I recently started using for everything from fabric scraps to furniture. Spoiler: It worked. That sofa bed is now stain-free, cozy, and back to its rightful color #TeamHufflepuff 🟡⚫
Want to know what I used and how I did it?
Here’s what I used to clean the stain:

Grated Jamaican Blue Power Soap
A soft bristle brush
Hot water
Patience and a bit of elbow grease 💪🏽
For the folding sofa: I mixed up a teaspoon of powdered Jamaican Blue Power soap with hot water and applied it to the stained pillow. I let it sit for a few minutes, and then scrubbed it clean with a microfiber towel.
Stain? Gone. Mood? Restored!

Optional: 20–30 drops essential oil
Instructions:
Melt grated soap in 4 cups of hot water until fully dissolved.
Add washing soda and stir until dissolved.
Pour into a large container and add the rest of the water.
Let it sit overnight. Stir before each use.
Use 1/2–1 cup per load—or spray as a stain solution.
